I take 2 tabs every day. Wouldn’t be without it, helps stabilize my mood swings. It should help prevent bone loss too.

Most doctors won’t tell you that Vitamin D has many benefits, among them reducing the incidences of colds and flu. While everybody else at hubby’s job was out with Swine flu, he stayed well. Unfortunately, I have experienced illness this winter — however, I haven’t been ill as often, and each illness has been less severe than in the past several years. My husband takes two tablets a day, and I take one.

Another benefit that I didn’t expect is that I’ve lost weight without trying. My husband hasn’t lost any weight, but then he doesn’t need to.

I have used Source Naturals Vitamin D3 for 3-4 years, started when a friend I work with had skin leasions and cause was diagnosed not getting enough Sun, He remedied this with his DR.’s advice by going to the tanning salon and using Vitiman D, I have light skin with freckles and some ocasional slight skin problems and decided it would do no harm and may prevent problems, it seems to be working, I purchased this from Amazon seller because it is exactly what I had been using, was looking for, and offered at a good price, I will be looking up seller again when I need more. Price:

While price may change slightly from time to time, none of the other brands at the time of this review approaches Source Naturals in terms of price. At the moment, without even getting the better subscription price, a 1000 IU tablet is right close to 2.6 cents. When we evaluate the price of all competitors at this time and add shipping where it applies, we find that each of them costs a very high percentage more than this per 1000 IU tablet. Usually they are at least a penny more per tablet and that is a large percentage. If somebody provides a price in a review, we still have to check the math. I already saw incorrect math applied in the review of another brand. In this Source Naturals offer we’re getting 600 tablets. When we multiply 600 by 2.6 cents, we come very close to the price at the time of this review.

(UPDATE on 12/31/2009: I paid 15.67 when I bought this at the non-subscription price and today is goes for a lot more than that. What a difference! Please adjust accordingly all that follows in this review.)

One can compare this roughly 2.6 cents price to brands simply by multiplying 2.6 with the number of 1000 IU tablets and verifying as I did at the time of this review that they’re all higher priced. One has to add shipping costs where they apply. One could assume that a 2000 IU tablet is equal to two 1000 tablets and the other brands are still pricier when we add shipping costs where they apply. But it is widely advised to take this vitamin in 1000 IU doses at a time, not 2000 IU doses, and for now the current defined tolerable upper limit for sustained daily intake of vitamin D is 2000 IU per day.

Source Naturals is one of the brands of choice of a nationally recognized chain of high-end healthy whole food stores. You’d recognize the name but I’ll not mention store names in reviews. We can buy this brand there or at other trusted stores for much more per tablet, and in fact I have looked and not found as low a price for vitamin D at any grocery, pharmacy or big box store.

Why take Vitamin D:

In this year 2009, the media has reported studies that show American adults have a high rate of being low in vitamin D. Our skin produces vitamin D in response to sunlight and we also get it in fortified foods such as milk. The problem is we’re not getting enough.
